Most of our employees have been with us for a long time and are dedicated to our mission and the service we provide. We currently employ around 70 people and are always looking to add to our exceptional crew. From our founder to our newest employees, professionalism, integrity, and industry knowledge can be found in every aspect of what we do.

“My family has been actively involved in the oil and gas industry of South Arkansas for four generations. In 1937, Colonel T.H. Barton discovered the Shuler Oil Field. My grandfather, Horace P. Sewell, was a farmer in the Shuler community. Between 1938 and 1941, there were ten producing wells drilled on his farm.

In 1953, my father, Wilson H. Sewell, drilled his first producing well, the Dumas #1, in the Shuler Field. In 1957, Wilson Sewell and Rodney Landes formed the Shuler Drilling Company. My first experience in the oil field began in 1968 when I began working for Shuler Drilling. In 1970, I drilled my first producing well. I continued work at Shuler until 1983, when I began Sewell Oil Company Inc. In 1993, I started my first oil well drilling company, which was sold to Patterson UTI in 2000. In 2007, I purchased Tri-State Drilling and changed the name to Sewell Drilling, which we still operate. At this point, I have drilled over 4100 wells in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.

My son, Justin Sewell, is the owner of Sewell Production Company, where he operates several oil-producing properties. With grandsons in the family, the oil and gas industry will continue for future generations.”
